Indian Medical Association Malabar Branch Inaugurated In Jeddah

Jeddah, December 15: The Indian Medical Association (IMA) Malabar Branch, functioning under the umbrella of the IMA Kerala State Branch, has been officially inaugurated in Jeddah. The new branch aims specifically to bring Indian doctors into the mainstream of the expatriate community while actively involving them in welfare, social, and voluntary activities within the region. Dr. Vineetha Pillai has taken on the role of President of the newly formed branch, with Dr. Indu Chandrasekhar serving as Secretary, Dr. Mini Kutty as Treasurer, and Dr. Mridula as Vice President. Dr. Ahmed Unni will function as the State Working Committee Member. The office bearers have confirmed that the IMA Malabar Branch will operate under the IMA Kerala Chapter.

In the initial phase, the IMA Malabar Branch will focus its efforts on developing programs designed to address issues of doctors in their professional life. It will also conduct essential awareness campaigns detailing the various social security schemes that the IMA has implemented for doctors’ benefit. President Dr. Vineetha Pillai affirmed the overarching goal, stating, “Our goal is to integrate Indian doctors into the mainstream of the expatriate community and engage them in meaningful welfare, social, and voluntary services.”

The branch has set forth several key objectives for its operation. These include providing necessary guidance concerning the health awareness and treatment of expatriates, organizing various social health programs such as free medical camps, and implementing specific schemes aimed at enhancing the welfare of the doctors themselves.

The IMA Malabar Branch also plans becomw a platform for organizing recreational and cultural events that benefit both doctors and their families. The inauguration and installation ceremony for the new branch and its office bearers was held in Jeddah on Friday. Dr. Joseph Benaven, the former President of IMA Kerala, formally inaugurated the branch, and Dr. Aji Varghese, the OAC Convenor, delivered a speech focusing on the extensive social and welfare activities undertaken by the IMA.
