Patna, Bihar: In a shocking incident, a Principal District and Sessions Judge Shilpee Soniraj, was found dead in a mysterious on Friday morning. The judge, who was declared brought dead at the hospital, was posted in Bihar’s Nawada district in 2023, Bar and Bench reported.

Soniraj’s body  has been sent to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) Patna for medical examination. The post mortem report will be disclosed within two or three days, possibly shedding light on the circumatance of the death.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP Headquarters) Nishu Malik said that the officials came to know at about 6 am or 6:30 am from the judicial side that something happened to the judge and she is not responding. People rushed her to the nearby hospital. She was declared brought dead.

When asked about any potential foul play in the death of the judge, the police said that the until and unless post mortem report comes, they cannot say any thing, adding that the inquest proceedings have started.

The judge, who was the 14th senior-most judicial officer and was eligible for elevation to the High Court, was set to retire in December 2033. She was an alumna of Patna’s Notre Dame Academy (NDA), a Christian missionary school.
