Bengaluru Murder Suspect Found Dead; Suicide Note Recovered

The prime suspect in the murder case of a woman in Bengaluru, whose dismembered body was found inside a fridge, was on Wednesday found dead in Odisha. The Bengaluru police also found a suicide note where he confessed to committing the brutal crime because he was fed up with her conduct.

The man, identified as Mukthiranjan Rai, was found hanging from a tree in Bhadrak district. A bag, a notebook, and a scooter were recovered from the crime scene. Rai’s body was sent for a postmortem.

According to reports, the suicide note was found inside the notebook, where Rai stated that he had killed Mahalaxmi, the woman whose body was chopped into 59 pieces and kept in the fridge. “I have killed my lover Mahalaxmi on Sept. 3. I was fed up with her conduct. I fought with her over personal matters, and Mahalaxmi assaulted me. Enraged by her act, I killed her,” the accused wrote in his diary, reported NDTV.

The suspect had arrived at the Pandi village on Wednesday and stayed at home before leaving on a two-wheeler, said the police. As per reports, Rai had stopped coming to work from September 1, also the last day of work for Mahalaxmi.

The murder came to light after neighbours reported a foul smell emanating from her house for two days and informed her relatives. Her mother and sister came to her house and witnessed the horrifying crime scene.

Hailing from Tripura, Mahalaxmi used to live in a one-bedroom apartment in Bengaluru’s Vyalikaval area. She was married but was living separately from her husband.
