FIFA World Cup Final: Kerala Declares Holiday For Schools On Monday
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Kerala chief minister VD Satheesan has declared a holiday for all educational institutions in the state on Monday, July 20, considering the FIFA World Cup Final scheduled to be held on Monday 12.30 am. The official state government order is expected to be issued shortly.
The blockbuster match between Argentina and Spain will takes place at the New York New Jersey Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. Chief Minister VD Satheesan has directed that all educational institutions, including professional colleges, remain closed tomorrow.
Examinations that have already been scheduled in advance will be conducted as planned. The government took the decision after demands from the public and the opposition to consider granting a holiday for students in view of the world cup final.
Former Education Minister V Sivankutty had earlier said that it would be difficult for children to attend classes in the morning after the match, which would end after midnight.
