A Bumble dating scam episode recording the horrible dating experience of a Delhi journalist named Archit Gupta on last week shook the internet by storm. Mr Gupta on social media platform X narrated how he has been duped to pay a restaurant bill over Rs 15,000.
Tracing the recent developments on the dating scam, Mr Gupta on Tuesday alleged on his X handle that the owners of the Race Lounge and Bar, where the woman he met on Bumble took him, are “alleged to be serial fraudsters.” The owners are Manish Chadha and his wife Kim Chadha. The restaurant is situated at the Rajouri Garden in the western part of Delhi. He then added that several victims have confided their stories with him. Mr Gupta alleged that though many cases have been lodged against the owners, no action has been taken by the West Delhi Police.

In the follow-up post, he also shared the audio clip of a victimised staff who talks about his experience without revealing the name. The staff says that Mr Chaddha is a fraud and he has not paid salaries of many staff at the Race Lounge. He adds that he left the job since Mr Chaddha treated him poorly, and till now he has not received the salaries. The police are not taking any action, the staff alleges. “I did not write the name of that person because his life could be in danger,” Mr Gupta writes.
It was on last Saturday, Mr Gupta revealed to the public how he became a victim of dating scam. His date on Bumble took him to the said restaurant and tricked him to pay an unfairly large sum of money as Bill. He states that despite she ordered expensive food and drinking options from the menu, the bill was not at all rationally put. Mr Gupta claims that this racket is big, and is focusing cafes and clubs in the Rajouri Garden area. The fraudsters are majorly operating through girls, and it has been continuing for a while. After Mr Gupta”s opening up, many other victims came forward and recounted their experience to him.
