DNA Test Confirms Father Raped And Impregnated Hearing-Impaired Daughter In Mumbai

In a shocking case from Mumbai, a 20-year-old woman who is unable to hear or speak was raped and impregnated by her own father. Police confirmed the crime after DNA tests matched the father with the foetus. He has now been arrested.

The incident took place in the Cuffe Parade area of South Mumbai. Police said the rape occurred sometime between March and September 21 last year.

The case came to light in September 2025 when the woman complained to her grandmother about stomach discomfort. Using hand gestures, she described the feeling as insects crawling inside her stomach.

She was taken to Cama and Albless Hospital, where doctors found she was nearly five months pregnant. The hospital immediately informed the police.

At first, police faced serious communication difficulties because the woman could not speak and was unwilling to give a statement.

Officers then questioned her father, who denied any sexual abuse and failed to explain how his daughter became pregnant. He also refused to file a police complaint.

After counselling, the woman agreed to file a formal complaint.

Based on the information she shared, police arrested another man and detained a 17-year-old boy, both of whom she identified as having raped her. Investigators then collected DNA and blood samples from 17 suspects, including the father.

On January 27, forensic test results revealed only one positive match, and that was the woman’s father. According to the police, the rape took place sometime between March and September 21 last year.
