New Delhi: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar recently claimed that India has been invited for the first time in the history to  chair the International Institute for Democracy and Electoral Assistance, International IDEA.

Speaking to reporters on Monday, the chief election commissioner said that the world recognises the successful conduct of free, fair and transparent elections in India. “his is a moment of immense pride for the citizens of India and all the Election Commission officials,” news agency ANI quoted the CEC.

Notably, the CEC’s claims has been countered as lie by several social media handles. Congress Kerala’s official handle pointed out that the Chair mentioned by the CEC is is rotational and was pre decided to be India’s turn.

In an X post, the party wrote, The chairmanship is on a rotational basis and it is India’s turn now which will be till 2033, citing International idea rules of procedure.

“He has the audacity to lie about such a simple thing on camera, just to fool Modi Bhatks, who deserves to be fooled,” it added, suggesting that the CEC’s claim is incorrect and misleading.
