Mumbai BMC Elections: Voters Face Issues With EVMs, Missing Names, No Beep Sound, And More
Mumbai, Maharashtra: Numerous voters across Mumbai, including at locations like GD Somani, Jamnabai Narsee School in Juhu, and Andheri West, were unable to cast votes in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections.
The voters, according to multiple videos online, were seen complaining that their names were missing from physical voter lists and the online data has several discrepancies.

Notably, the Maharashtra State Election Commission website reportedly crashed, preventing voter searches. Some voters, including senior citizens, traveled to multiple booths without success, prompting widespread complaints of organizational failure.
Voters in Andheri reported confusion over missing booth numbers on official voter slips, creating long queues, lack of training among booth staff, and the use of marker pens instead of indelible ink.

The controversy erupted during polling for BMC Election 2026 after voters in Andheri reported confusion over missing booth numbers on official voter slips. Long queues, polling booth changes, lack of training among booth staff, and the use of marker pens instead of indelible ink made the situation worse, causing voter inconvenience.
A video shared by news agency ANI, shows a Mumbai local coming to cast his vote for the BMC elections, and then saying, “The number we found on the internet does not match here. This is organisational failure… I have to go without casting my vote…”

Several other voters waited for long and couldn’t cast their vote as their names didn’t appeared in the voting list, as per reports.
