Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh: Following the Supreme Court’s Wednesday verdict slamming ‘bulldozer justice’ and calling it unconstitutional, Samajwadi Party Chief Akhilesh Yadav welcomed the judgement. Taking a dig at the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, he said that the bulldozer will remain in the garage now.
During his rally at Sisamau Assembly constituency in Kanpur, the Kannauj MP thanked the top court’s government. Calling the bulldozer a “symbol” of the UP government, Yadav said, “What to expect from people who break homes? At least, their bulldozer will remain in garage. No poor’s home will be razed.”

Calling the top court’s verdict a “welcome relief,” AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi said, “Hopefully they will prevent state governments from collectively punishing Muslims & other marginalised groups. We should remember that no less than PM Narendra Modi has celebrated bulldozer raj, which SC today called “a lawless state of affairs.”

While the state government claimed that only illegal properties were demolished, several petitioners flagged the extrajudicial nature of the actions by state authorities.
