PM Modi Was Not Born In OBC Category: Rahul Gandhi Reaction On 'Biggest OBC' Comment

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi claimed that Prime Minister Modi was not born in an Other Backward Class (OBC), and that he is misleading people by identifying himself as an OBC.

During a public rally in the Odisha leg of Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, the Congress leader said that PM Modi “was born in a family that belonged to the general caste.”

He added, “Modi ji has been misleading the people by saying that he is an OBC list during the BJP government”s tenure in Gujarat in 2000. Therefore, Modi ji is not an OBC by birth…He was born in the Teli caste in Gujarat. The community was given the tag of OBC in the year 2000 by the BJP. He keeps lying everywhere that he was born OBC.”

“Do you know how do I know that he was not born OBC? I don”t require birth certificate to ascertain the fact. He does not embrace any OBC person. He does not hold hands of farmers and laborers. He only holds hand of Adani ji,” the Wayanad MP alleged.

He further added that PM Modi “will not allow caste census to be conducted in his entire life…Take it in writing.”

“The caste census can only be undertaken by Congress and Rahul Gandhi. When I raised the issue of caste census and social justice, Mr. Modi delivered a speech saying there are only two castes – one rich and another poor. If there are two castes, which caste do you (PM) belong to? You cannot be poor. You wear suits that cost in crore. If there are two castes, how come you are an OBC,” he said.

He added, “When it comes to economic justice, your PM is destroying small businesses. He has implemented GST and demonetization to help Adani ji. In the country including Odisha, youth cannot get employment. Big industrialists are selling products made in China helping youths of China make money. People in India are only spending.”

On Thursday, Rahul Gandhi resumed the yatra to move ahead to Chhattisgarh. He was accompanied by AICC leader Ajoy Kumar and OPCC president Sarat Pattnayak.
