Protest Against CEC Gyanesh Kumar: Heavy Security Deployed, Metro Stations Closed, Leaders Detained

Delhi Police deployed heavy security, closed 11 metro stations, and detained several political leaders and activists at Jantar Mantar as protest began against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar.

Notably, Delhi Police denied formal permission for the gathering, and imposed Section 163 of the BNSS (prohibiting unauthorized large assemblies) and deployed Central Armed Police Forces.

Opposition groups, student unions (like AISA), and activists led by figures including Manoj Jha, Prashant Bhushan, and Yogendra Yadav organised the demonstration to demand CEC Gyanesh Kumar’s resignation.
