The Delhi police on Friday night detained at least 1,000 people in the capital city ahead of the scheduled protest by by the Cockroach Janta Party-All India Students’ Association on Saturday, October 10.

Around 250 of these detainees were from Delhi’s South East district, particularly from areas around Shaheen Bagh. The area is known to be the centre of the anti-CAA protests of 2020. More than 100 are from the Shahdara and East Delhi district, which border Uttar Pradesh.
In a social media post, CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke said Prime Minister Modi has accepted defeat even before their protest has begun, referring to the police crackdown on the protest including mass detention, train cancellation, huge security arrangement and the deployment of central force.
“The mass crackdown on protesters and the shutdown of Delhi are not signs of strength, but of a leader terrified of his own people,” the CJP leader wrote on X.
