Voters To Get I-Cards Within 15 Days: Election Commission Fast-Tracks EPIC Delivery (Photo on X@ECISVEEP)
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has introduced a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) aiming to ensure faster delivery of Electors Photo Identity Cards (EPICs) to the voters. The new initiative will enable the delivery of EPICs within 15 days of an update on the electoral rolls. The Election Commission made the announcement on Wednesday.
The initiative is expected to enhance service delivery while maintaining data security, and the EC has claimed that its focus was to provide prompt and efficient electoral services to all its electors.

The faster delivery of the EPICs includes new enrollment of an elector or a change in any particulars of an existing elector. The initiative is in line with the various measures being undertaken by the ECI for the convenience of electors as envisaged by the Chief Election Commissioner, Shri Gyanesh Kumar, along with Election Commissioners Dr. Sukhbir Singh Sandhu and Dr. Vivek Joshi,” the poll body said in a statement.
According to the commission, the new system will ensure real-time tracking of each stage, right from the EPIC generation by the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) to the delivery of EPIC to electors through the Department of Posts (DoP). The electors will receive notifications via SMS at each stage, keeping them informed about the status of their EPICs.
The poll body has also launched a dedicated IT module on its recently launched ECINet platform for the mentioned purpose. By re-engineering the current system and streamlining the workflow, the new IT platform will replace the existing process. DoP’s Application Programme Interface (API) will be integrated with the ECINet for seamless delivery.

“It may be recalled that in the past four months, the Commission has taken a slew of initiatives for the benefit of electors and other stakeholders,” the statement added.
The ECI made the announcement on the social media platform X, and wrote, “ECI to fast track EPIC delivery; Electors to get EPIC within 15 days of an update on the Electoral Rolls, including new enrollment of an elector or change in any particulars of an existing elector.”
