ECI Announces Pan-India Voters' List Revision; Phase 2 To Cover 12 States
New Delhi: The Election Commission of India on Monday, October 27, announced the Pan-India Special Intensive Revision (SIR) voters’ list. In a social media post, the poll body stated that it has successfully completed the SIR revision in Bihar with zero appeals.
“Phase 2 — To start in 12 States / UTs,” the poll body announced, adding that pure electoral rolls strengthens democracy. The poll body has taken stock of the preparedness of all States and Union Territories for the pan-India SIR.
Addressing a press conference, Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that the Election Commission met election officials from all 36 states and discussed the process of the second phase of SIR in detail. He added that printing of Enumeration Forms would begin on October 27 and would be given to each voter in states where SIR would take place.
To address the issue of migrated voters, people can now submit their enumeration forms online, the election commissioner noted.
