Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) Registration Begins Today

The Indian Air Force application process for the Air Force Common Admission Test (AFCAT) 1 will start on December 2, 2025. The AFCAT examination is conducted to recruit officers in various branches of the Indian Air Force, including flying and ground duty (technical and non-technical). The last date to fill out the application form for 2025 is December 31, 2024.

The exam is held biannually and is open for both men and women who wish to join IAF for both the Short Service Commission in flying branch and Permanent Commission/Short Service Commission in Ground duties. Successful candidates are selected for training at the Air Force Academy to be commissioned into the IAF as Gazetted Group ‘A’ officers. The AFCAT 1 exam will be conducted for a total of 336 vacancies.

The exam assesses candidates’ General Awareness, Verbal Ability, Numerical Ability, and Reasoning proficiency. The AFCAT exam is highly competitive as many candidates appear each year. The AFCAT exam date has not been announced yet.

Candidates are selected based on their performance in the online written exam and interview. Candidates appearing for Ground Duty (Technical) branches need to appear in the AFCAT and Engineering Knowledge Test (EKT).

Earlier women were inducted to the IAF services through Short Service Commission and could serve for 10 to 14 years. However, now as per the 2022 decision women candidates are eligible to be inducted as a permanent commission officer.

AFCAT Registration: How to apply

Step 1: Go to the official website – afcat.cdac.in.

Step 2: Click on the candidate login and select AFCAT 01/2025 from the drop menu.

Step 3: Register using email ID and password

Step 4: Fill application form and fill in personal details, qualification details, course preferences, and communication details

Step 5: Upload documents

Step 6: Select the exam city and sign the declaration
