UPSC Invites Applications Under Lateral Entries For Joint Secretary And Directors

UPSC invites applications for lateral entries at the Joint Secretary and Directors Level. Online applications are invited from Indian nationals to join the Government of India at the level of Joint Secretary, Director, Or Deputy Secretary under the given posts. Interested applicants can see the detailed notification and apply through the UPSC official website – upsconline.nic.in by September 17, 2024.

The mentioned posts in different Ministries/Departments with Headquarters at New Delhi on a Contract Basis are invited on Deputation for officers of States/UT Cadres, Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs), Autonomous Bodies, Statutory Organizations, Universities, Recognized Research Institutes. The duration of the posts will be for a period of three years which is extendable to five years depending on the performance of the concerned individual.

Lateral entry refers to the process of appointing individuals from the private sector, state government, autonomous bodies, or public sector undertakings directly to mid-level and senior positions in the government. The government of India introduced the process of lateral entry to diversify the pool of talent in its administrative machinery. It aims to bring in specialists with proven expertise and experience in various specific domains. This seeks to bolster policy formulation and implementation with innovative ideas and best practices both from the private and public sectors outside the traditional civil services.

A total of 45 posts have been published by the UPSC for recruitment through lateral entry into different ministries and departments. Some of the vacancies given under the UPSC notification include posts in ministry of Electronics & Information Technology, Ministry of Environment, Forest And Climate Change, Department of Financial Services, Ministry of Finance, Department of Economic Affairs, Ministry of Finance and several other ministries.
