Actor Maniyanpilla Raju Booked In Hit-And-Run Case After His Car Knocks Down Bike

Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Malayalam actor Maniyanpilla Raju’s car collided with a motorcycle on Thursday night in which two 20-year-old persons –  Sooraj and Nidev near Trivandrum Club on Vellayambalam-Vazhuthakkad road in Thiruvananthapuram – suffered injuries including  leg fracture for one and spinal injury for the other.

The actor was exiting the Trivandrum Club late when the incident happened and reportedly left the spot without stopping the vehicle. The Thiruvananthapuram City police has recorded the arrest of the actor in connection with the hit-and-run incident for rash driving and failing to assist the injured in the accident.

The actor was arrested and then released on station bail. The case has been registered under Sections 281 (rash driving) and 125(a) (endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, along with Sections 134(A) (failure to provide emergency medical assistance to the injured) and 134(B) (failure to report the accident to the nearest police station) of the Motor Vehicles Act.

The accident took place around 10 pm. The CCTV footage recovered from the accident site shows the actor’s car cutting across the Vellayambalam-Vazhuthacaud road to enter the opposite lane towards Vellayambalam, when the passing bike hit the car.

The car proceeded without stopping to check on the condition of the injured, sparking public anger against the actor.
