"BJP Washing Machine Reached Kerala?": Allegations That Twenty20 Joined NDA After ED Notice
Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Amid speculation, Twenty20 recently joined the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) with Prime Minister Narendra Modi meeting the party’s Chief Coordinator Sabu M. Jacob during his visit to Kerala.
Notably, choosing NDA as a partner for the 2026 assembly elections comes at a time when the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has reportedly intensified its investigation against Kitex Group, a company owned by Jacob. The ED has registered a case against Kitex Group for alleged violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA), linked to foreign fund transfers.

The Twenty20 has now become part of the NDA, amid a tightening probe into the alleged irregularities against the party’s founder, prompting social media users to wonder whether the BJP washing machine has reached Kerala too. Netizens said it’s another BJP washing machine work in Kerala that made the party’s founder join the saffron camp.
The central probe agency has issued notices to the company twice, but Sabu Jacob did not appear in person, and instead deputed a chartered accountant.

However, reacting to his political shift, Jacob said that the decision was to align with the NDA and not surrender to the BJP, which was driven by concerns over whether the party could realistically achieve political transformation in Kerala by contesting alone.
Following the new alignment, several of its supporters left the party, in a major blow to the already weakening organization. Twenty20 suffered significant setbacks in the recently concluded local body elections, as the party lost control of two out of four panchayats it previously governed. The party also had representation in two district panchayat divisions and relinquished its lone block panchayat seat during the recent elections.
