The Vatanappally Group of Educational Institutions, runs under the Vatanappally Orphanage Committee (VOC), is poised to celebrate a historic milestone on Saturday, 11th January, with its inaugural convocation ceremony. Founded in 1977 as a modest madrasa here, the institution has blossomed into a prominent network of educational institutions across Kerala. Renowned for its unwavering commitment to providing care and education to orphaned and underprivileged children, the group has transformed the lives of countless individuals through its dedication to academic excellence and social upliftment.
The convocation ceremony, for the students of its many affiliated Islamiya Colleges, will coincide with the inauguration of Unity College, the latest addition to the group’s impressive portfolio. The event, scheduled to take place at the Unity College Campus, Puthiyangadi, Thalikkulam, Thrissur, will be graced by a distinguished assembly of dignitaries, including Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahman, Rajya Sabha MP Adv. Haris Beeran, CC Mukundan MLA, JIH National General Secretary T Arifali, JIH Kerala Chief P Mujeeb Rahman, ex-MP TN. Prathapan, and former Vice-Chancellor of Aligarh Muslim University and Cochin University of Science and Technology, Dr. PK Abdul Aziz.

“The Vatanappally Group’s journey began with a noble mission: to provide education and care to orphans in a community grappling with poverty and neglect. Despite facing numerous financial challenges, the founders prioritised the establishment of boarding facilities and comprehensive support systems for children in dire need. Over the decades, the institution has expanded its vision, seamlessly integrating Islamic principles with modern education to empower students intellectually and morally. Today, its alumni are dispersed across the globe, excelling in diverse fields within both governmental and non-governmental sectors, serving as living testaments to the institution’s core values of compassion and service,” an official from the convocation organising committee said.
The convocation will serve as a platform to honour the achievements of outstanding graduates who have not only excelled academically but also made significant contributions to society. The institution boasts a consistent record of producing top ranks in the Islamic Higher Secondary Examination under the Islamic Educational Council of India (IECI) and has achieved remarkable results in Plus Two and degree courses. “The institution’s unwavering emphasis on character-building and social responsibility has nurtured generations of changemakers committed to upholding ethical principles and serving their communities,” the official added.

The Vatanappally Orphanage Committee oversees a network of educational institutions, including Vatanappally Orphanage, Islamiya Colleges in Thalikkulam, Mannam, Chalakkal, and Kollam, as well as Model High School Puthiyangadi and Grace Public School Umayanalloor.
