Thrissur, Kerala: The Vatanappally Group of Educational Institutions (VGEI), under the Vatanappally Orphanage Committee (VOC), marked a historic day by hosting its first-ever convocation ceremony alongside the inauguration of Unity College of Arts and Sciences in Puthiyangadi.

JIH National General Secretary T Arifali inaugurated the convocation, emphasising the need for value-based education to uplift underprivileged students. “Institutions like VOC, which offer quality education to the economically and culturally marginalised, are a beacon of hope. These institutions have transformed students from disadvantaged backgrounds into achievers who now hold prominent positions globally,” he said.

JIH Kerala Ameer P Mujeeburahman lauded VOC for its commitment to educating marginalised communities and integrating them into mainstream society. The Unity College inauguration was officiated by MLA CC Mukundan, while Dr Koottil Muhammadali, Acting Chairman of VOC, presided over the function.

Former MP TN Prathapan released a commemorative magazine, handing the first copy to Haslin Saleem, MD of Oman Ghazal Group of Companies. Dignitaries including Al Jamia Al Islamia Rector Dr Abdussalam Ahmad, former AMU and CUSAT VC Prof Dr PK Abdul Aziz, and Malaysian International Islamic University Dean Dr Shukran Abdurahman addressed the gathering. They highlighted VOC’s transformative role in providing care and education to orphans and underprivileged children.

VOC operates an extensive network of institutions, including the Vatanappally Orphanage, Islamiya Colleges in Thalikkulam, Mannam, Chalakkal, and Kollam, as well as the Model High School in Puthiyangadi and Grace Public School in Umayanalloor.

Speakers and attendees praised VOC’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and social welfare, celebrating the organisation’s impact on countless lives. The event also underscored VOC’s ethos of nurturing students who rise above adversity to excel in diverse fields, embodying the institution’s mission to create a brighter future for the underprivileged.
