Athulya's Death: Husband Arrested On Return To Kerala From Sharjah

 Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala: Satheeshan, the husband of a Keralite woman, Athulya, who was found dead in Sharjah in July, has been detained by immigration officials at Thiruvananthapuram airport upon arrival from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

The immigration officials have handed over the accused Satheeshan to the Valiyathura police, and he remains in custody. Kollam police had earlier issued a lookout notice for Satheeshan in connection with the death of Athulya. After the incident, Sathees, who was employed as a site engineer in Dubai, was terminated from his job.

After the death of Athulya in the gulf nation, Chavara Thekkumbhagam Police registered a case against Satheesh with sections related to murder, cruelty against women, voluntarily causing hurt, voluntarily causing grievous hurt among others.

Right after their marriage, the satheesh allegedly subjected his wife to extreme harassment, including demanding and abetting a dowry right after the marriage. After finding the 29-year-old Athulya dead in their Sharjah apartment on July 19, her family in Kollam’s Chavara alleged that prolonged harassment and abuse by Satheesh led to her death.

They also shared evidence, including audio clips in which Athulya is heard speaking about the abuse she was suffering with her friends and relatives.
