John, Minister for Higher Education and Social Justice (Government of Keralam), urged the new graduates to embrace lifelong learning and stay adaptable in a rapidly shifting global workforce. Emphasizing innovation and critical resilience, Mr. John recalled a foundational lesson from his student days: “If politics decides your future, you should decide what your politics should be.” Translating that principle to contemporary times, he cautioned against becoming passive consumers of modern tools, stating that students must actively decide how technology shapes their lives.
Concluding his address, Mr. John commended SAFI for balancing skill-based training with rigorous academic research, and stated that SAFI has all the qualities necessary to become a private university. He noted that while short-term skill programs offer quick job pathways, cultivating a robust culture of indigenous research and knowledge production remains vital for Kerala’s growth.
