Kerala: 19-Year-Old Woman Booked For Attempted Murder After Dumping Newborn, Says 'Don't Want Baby'

Alappuzha, Kerala: The 19-year-old woman, who gave birth to a baby in Alappuzha Haripad government hospital toilet, recently said she does not want the unplanned newborn. The woman had tried to abandon the baby soon after delivery by throwing it out, sparking outrage.

The police today, May 27, have registered a case against the teenager mother for attempted murder.

On Tuesday, a 19-year-old unmarried girl, who came to treat a stomach ailment, gave birth to a baby in Haripad Government Talk hospital toilet, after reportedly concealing her pregnancy for months. Soon after delivery, the woman threw the newborn out of the toilet through the window.

The baby was saved after the hospital staff and security discovered it outside the the hospital complex.  The girl had claimed that she was having a period when asked about the difficulties. The duty doctor says the woman claimed she only needed pain relief medicine.
