'Sangh Parivar Has No Connection To Democracy': Rapper Vedan Fires Back To Sasikala' Remark

Kerala: Hours after Hindu Aikya Vedi chief patron K. P. Sasikala criticised rapper Vedan, accusing him of deviating from tribal music, the rapper said today that Sasikala wanted him to stop rapping.

Noting that Sasikala had admonished him to stop rapping, Vedan said that the Sangh Parivar and democracy have no connection. He pointed out that the very question ‘Why did he do rapping?’ is undemocratic, underlining that all this hatred was due to a fear of the politics he advocates.

Inaugurating a dharna organised by the Hindu Aikya Vedi on Wednesday against alleged denial of justice to Scheduled Castes (SCs) and Scheduled Tribes (STs), Sasikala on Wednesday lashed out at Vedan’s rap music, suggesting that they have no connection with the SC/ST culture. She also called the rapper a “Kanjavoli,” a derogatory Malayalam term indicating him as indulging in ganja.

“Calibrated efforts are being made to make me a separatist, no terrorists are behind me, all the money I have is after paying due tax,” the rapper said.

On Wednesday, CPM leader P. Jayarajan lambasted the Hindu Aikya Vedi chief, saying that the love Sangh Parivar groups are now expressing to the SC/ST is a hypocrisy.

He said Sasikala’s remark about Vedan was a derogatory casteist term. The left politician noted he does not expect anything “more from the mouths of a communal venomous snake”. He also demanded that the police should take a case against the Hindu Aikya Vedi leader.
