The Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yathra of the Congress entered Varanasi on the third day on Saturday. Along with other party leaders and the state president Ajay Rai toured the busy Gudauli area of the temple town.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh sharing the images of the crowd welcoming the Congress leader in Varanasi, wrote on X, “Day 35 of the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra begins to phenomenal crowds in Varanasi. Thousands of people have gathered to greet @RahulGandhi and extend solidarity to our fight against 10 Saal Anyay Kaal.”

The yatra on Friday entered the state from Bihar at Chanduali where it halted the night. Apna Dal leader Pallavi Patel and the Samajwadi Party MLA from Sirathu also joined the yatra in Varanasi. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav has said that he will join the yatra in Rae Bareli, reports The Hindu.

The yathra will transverse through Uttar Pradesh before entering Rajasthan. Meanwhile, Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi will not take part in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra due to dehydration and nausea that necessitated hospitalization. “I was eagerly waiting for Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra to reach UP. But due to an illness, I had to be admitted to hospital today itself. I will join the Yatra as soon as I feel better. Till then, I give my best wishes to all Yatris – my dear brother and my colleagues from UP, who are diligently preparing for the journey – reaching Chandauli-Banaras,” Priyanka posted on X.

The yatra which is scheduled in two parts in UP, will cover Chandauli to Varanasi, Allahabad, Pratapgarh, Amethi, Rae Bareli, Lucknow and Kanpur between February 16 and 21.

The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra will traverse 6,700 km through 15 states. The east-to-west Manipur-Mumbai yatra aims to highlight the message ‘nyay’ (justice) while meeting common people on the way.
