We Are Fighting The Indian State To Defend The Idea Of India: Rahul Gandhi On INDIA Bloc

Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi stated that the Opposition INDIA alliance is battling the might of the Indian state to uphold the idea of India. While attending “The Conclave 2023” hosted by Pratidin Media Network in New Delhi, Mr. Gandhi addressed the government”s control over the business community and media networks.

“Go and ask any businessman in India what happens to them if they support an opposition party. Ask them what happens when they write a check for any opposition party. We are facing a financial attack and a media attack,” he explained.

Regarding the prospects of the INDIA alliance, a coalition comprising more than 25 Opposition parties, he remarked, “We”re doing quite well… We are no longer pitted against just a political party; we are fighting against the Indian state, defending the very idea of India. That”s why we”ve chosen the name INDIA.”

Mr. Gandhi also expressed confidence in the party”s ability to win the upcoming Assembly elections.

“Right now, we are probably winning Telangana, we are certainly winning Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. We are very close in Rajasthan and we think we will be able to win…,” he said.

“We learned a very important lesson in Karnataka. It was, the BJP wins elections by distracting and not allowing us to construct our narrative. In Karnataka we fought the elections in way where the BJP could not define the narrative,” he added.

He also mentioned that individuals like Ramesh Bidhuri or Nishikant Dubey are employing similar tactics to divert public attention from the idea of a caste census. He was referring to the abusive slurs made by Mr. Bidhuri against a Muslim MP in Parliament.
