Will Bijuli Kalita Medhi Worth Replacing Queen Oja of Guwahati?

Bijuli Kalita Medhi,  the BJP candidate from the Guwahati constituency, which is considered to be the gateway to northeast India, with a significant weight of about 1,922,270 eligible voters. In this Lok Sabha election, Bujuli, the vice president of the Assam BJP is contesting against another powerful woman candidate Mira Barthakur Goswami of Congress.

Bijuli Kalita Medhi started her political journey by joining the BJP party in 2013, after resigning from her role as a teacher. In 2016, the BJP took control of Guwahati  Municipal Corporation for the first time in the history of the civic body as party leaders, Bijuli Kalita Medhi got elected unopposed as Mayor and Deputy Mayor, respectively. She was the former president of Mahila Morcha, the women’s wing of the BJP, in the state. In the 2024 Lok Sabha election, Kalita was fielded as the BJP candidate replacing the then-sitting MP Queen Ojha. 

The BJP leader has a strong educational background from institutions as she was a Post Graduate from the Gauhati  University and Handique Girl’s College and she was also a former president of Mohila Morcha of BJP.
