Guwahati, Assam: A woman called Mousumi Gogoi was stabbed to death by her boyfriend in broad daylight on Thursday morning. The accused, identified as Bhupen Das, then attempted to stab himself and commit suicide, stated the police.
“Reference stabbing incident of a young girl at Nahorni Path Guwahati – The assailant has been detained. He has self-stabbed himself and is being admitted to the hospital,” said Director General of Police (DGP) GP Singh, Assam Police.

According to Singh, Gogoi was waiting for a vehicle she had booked through an app when the accused arrived in his car and killed her.
The accused was arrested from an area near the Housing complex where he “self-stabbed” himself and was admitted to the hospital.

According to reports, Gogoi had filed a complaint at the Pan Bazar police station against the accused alleging threat to her life. The accused reportedly killed her because she refused to be in a relationship with him.
The attack occurred on the morning of December 26 at Naharani Path, Last Gate. Around 10:30 am, the accused stabbed Gogoi multiple times, leaving her with stab wounds to her abdomen, chest, and hand.
Although she was rushed to a nearby hospital, she succumbed to her injuries.

A case has been registered against Das and further probe is underway.
