Former NDTV Journalist Reveals 'Drastic Narrative Shift' After Adani Takeover
New Delhi: After Gautam Adani group’s purchase of around 65% stake from NDTV founders Prannoy and Radhika Roy, the media house has completely changed its basic character, according to former NDTV journalist, Vedanta Agarwal.
During an interview, Agarwal, one of the co-founders of Peek TV, explained the narrative control tactics, including selective emphasis on stories that matter to the government and disregard for issues that question the ruling BJP government.
Once a great world-class media organisation has now turned into ‘Godi Media’, according to many critics. Soon after the Adani takeover, most of the senior editors left the organisation, and the first thing we noticed then was several of our stories being blocked.
The journalist described how the media house’ editorial policy changed as per the government narrative. He said they were told to celebrate government initiatives and conclaves. Meanwhile, coverage to protest and issues concerning government policies were conveniently ignored.
