'Godi Media' Chants: How CJP Protesters 'Welcomed' Reporters From Certain Media At Jantar Mantar

New Delhi: Journalists from prominent Indian media houses faced humiliating slogans at the hands of Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protesters at Jantar Mantar on July 20, as they covered the youth march towards Parliament.

The protesters alleged that the mainstream media allegedly ignored their protest at the Jantar Mantar and the hunger strike by activist Sonam Wangchuk and later by the CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke for weeks. However, when the people started to turn out in large numbers, the protesters alleged, the media could not ignore them.

Several videos from the protest sites showed reporters from certain mainstream media being heckled by the protesters calling them Godi Media, which they define as the media professionals who are sitting at the lap of the ruling government.

The videos show the protesters raising slogans such as ‘Godi media Chor Hai’ and ‘Godi Media Hai Hai’ among others at the reporters. Some of the protesters pointed fingers at certain national media, calling them the makers of fake narratives.

Many questioned why the media was reluctant to cover the protest earlier, and also questioned the tone of questions being asked to protesters. Several claimed that these journalists were not standing with them, but were instead acting in the interest of the ruling government.
