New Delhi: Led by activist Sarwan Singh Pandher, the Desh Bachao Morcha will be conducting a one-day Kisan Mahapanchayat on July 21 to protest India-US trade talks under the 2025 COMPACT initiative.

Pandher, the Kisan Mazdoor Sangharsh Committee leader & coordinator for Desh Bachao Morcha, accused the government of non-transparency in the US-India trade deal, stating that they are learning deal details only from US press releases. The farmers have expressed their worry that the tariff cuts will flood markets with cheap American dairy, grains, and meats, endangering a sector that employs half of India’s workforce.

The famers have threatened that they will organise next phase of agitation if their demand for the transparency and cancellation of the deal go unmet. Talking about the march, Sarwan Singh Pandher said that Desh Bachao Morcha has called for a one-day rally on 21st July at Kisan Ghat.

“Tomorrow, we will head to Delhi as you (the govt) never spoke to any stakeholders over the India-US FTA. You are signing this FTA in a secret way as the govt tells us nothing about it,” the activist said, adding that all that they get to know is from the US side through press releases.

“We are heading to Delhi to request the PM to tell us about this agreement. People from Haryana, Rajasthan, HP, Maharashtra, UP and Uttarakhand are also coming for this one-day rally,” the farmer leader added in a video shared by news agency ANI.
