Rahul Gandhi Demands SC-Monitored Probe Into Police Brutality Against Students
New Delhi: Leader of opposition (LoP) Rahul Gandhi on Thursday, July 30 demanded a Supreme Court-monitored independent investigation into the police brutalities against students protesters during the recent demonstration at Jantar Mantar.
In a social media post, the Congress leader wrote “An independent SC monitored high powered committee must be constituted to probe brutalities against our students.”
The Congress leader also shared the visuals showing police attacking protesters, holding Union Home Minister Amit Shah responsible for the police Brutality given that he was the chief in charge.
“Either he ordered this attack, in which case he is directly guilty or he had no knowledge of the attack in which case he is an incompetent home minister” Rahul Gandhi wrote on X. The Congress leader further alleged that the home minister has been absent in the parliament, adding that he is scared to come.
The CJP-led protest found fruit after the former Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan was made to resign. The protest saw police using illegal means to suppress the March, sparking public outrage. Visuals saw protesters being met with tear gas, pellet guns and lathi charge.
Several students sustained serious injuries during the protest that saw large scale participation from the country’s young generation.
