CJP March: Gate Closed, Tear Gas Shells Fired As Protesters Reach Near Parliament

New Delhi: The CJP protesters have reached the Press Club of India, near the Indian Parliament. Administration has tightened security near the parliament, and the police have fired gas shells at the protesters, the CJP workers said. Security personnel used tear-gas shells and baton-charging to disperse the crowd of protesters. Prime Minister Narendra Modi left Parliament premises around noon, with the entry gates being closed soon after.

CJP spokesperson has claimed the the authorities in Delhi have shut down internet and hence they are unable to shared updates from the ground. “The cowardly authorities have shut down internet services in parts of the city. You can shut down the internet, but how will you close the eyes and ears of the protesters who will see and report to the world what’s going on in Delhi?” the CJP said.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has closed five stations over security concerns in view of the CJP protest in the Capital. However, some gates of the stations were reopened after a brief closure. These included the Rajiv Chowk metro station, Patel Chowk, Mandi House, Central Secretariat and Janpath.

Meanwhile, Sonam Wangchuk wrote to Safdarjung Hospital, saying he wanted to join Parliament March.
