“Starting Indefinite Hunger Strike Now,” Says CJP Founder After Sonam Wangchuk’s Hospital Shift
Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) founder Abhijeet Dipke has announced that he will begin an indefinite hunger strike following the shifting of climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to a hospital from the Jantar Mantar protest site on Saturday.
In a post on X, Dipke wrote, “I am starting an indefinite hunger strike beginning right now,” expressing his protest against the police action during the demonstration.

The statement came after Delhi Police shifted Sonam Wangchuk to a hospital on Saturday morning, citing his deteriorating health condition after completing 21 days of hunger strike.
Wangchuk began his fast on June 28 as part of a protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
While Delhi Police said the shift was carried out as per the Delhi High Court’s order and on medical advice, Dipke alleged that police forcibly removed Wangchuk from the protest site.

In another post on X, Dipke claimed that Delhi Police cracked down on protesters at Jantar Mantar, alleging that people were beaten and that he was also detained by the police.

The police, however, maintained that maximum restraint was used during the process and appealed to protesters to peacefully vacate the protest site. The allegations made by the protest organisers have not been independently verified.
