Sonam Wangchuk Shifted To Hospital Amid Protest: CJP Founder Alleges Police Crackdown
Educator and climate activist Sonam Wangchuk was shifted to a hospital on Saturday after his health reportedly worsened during his indefinite hunger strike at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi.
According to Delhi Police, Wangchuk was taken to the hospital following the orders of the Delhi High Court and on the advice of medical experts due to his deteriorating health condition. The police said the transfer was carried out with “maximum restraint” to ensure his safety.
Wangchuk, who began his indefinite hunger strike on June 28, completed 21 days of fasting on Saturday before being shifted to a hospital after his health reportedly deteriorated.

In a post on X, the Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) said Wangchuk was moved for essential medical care and appealed to protesters gathered at Jantar Mantar to peacefully vacate the protest site.
Wangchuk has been observing a hunger strike as part of a protest organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), which is demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.
However, the police’s version was disputed by Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach Janata Party. In a series of posts on X, Dipke alleged that Delhi Police used force against protesters and removed Wangchuk against his will.
