Aamir Khan Clarifies "3 Idiots Character Not Based On Sonam Wangchuk", Expresses Concern Over His Health
While answering a question about the long-standing belief that his 3 Idiots character Rancho was based on activist Sonam Wangchuk, actor Aamir Khan clarified that the character was not inspired by him. He said he did not even know about Wangchuk when the film was being shot.
Aamir Khan further expressed concern over Wangchuk’ health as his indefinite hunger strike continues. The actor expressed hope that he would call off his fast soon.

Wangchuk is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding accountability and reforms for India’s heavily criticized education and competitive examination systems.
