Aamir Khan Clarifies "3 Idiots Character Not Based On Sonam Wangchuk", Expresses Concern Over His Health
While answering a question regarding the long-standing belief that his character Rancho in 3 Idiots was based on activist Sonam Wangchuk, actor Aamir Khan has clarified that his character was not inspired by the activist Wangchuk. He said he was not even know about Wangchuk when the film was shooting.
However, Aamir Khan expressed concerns over the health of Wangchuk as his indefinite hunger strike deteriorates his wellbeing. The actor expressed hope that he would call off his fast soon. Sonam Wangchuk.

Wangchuk is on an indefinite hunger strike demanding accountability and reforms for India’s heavily criticized education and competitive examination systems.
