Congress's 'Chalo Dilli' March Today As CJP Leaders Seek Fresh Demonstration Date
New Delhi: Delhi continue to be high alert as series of protests are mounting against Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls.
Congress is all set to hold another massive demonstration, two days after youth-led CJP shook Delhi, which the authorities turned into a security fortress, mass detaining thousands of protesters. In a social media post Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi urged citizens to joint the Chalo Dilli march, and wrote, “March for Democracy. March for Justice.”
Continuing the momentum, the CJP leaders including Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das has decided to seek permission for a peaceful demonstration at Jantar Mantar. The Supreme Court on Sunday directed authorities to prevent illegal detentions and ensure normal Metro services, internet access and public movement.
