Padma Awards 2026: Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and West Bengal Receive Highest Awards
The Indian government announced Padma Awards 2026 – one of the highest civilian Awards of the country- on January 25, 2026. The awards are declared in three categories, namely, Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan, and Padma Shri. The awards are announced on the occasion of Republic Day every year. They will be presented by President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan later this year.
The awards are conferred considering contributions in multiple fields, including art, social work, public affairs, science and engineering, trade and industry, medicine, literature and education, sports, civil service, among others.
A total of 131 Padma awards are conferred to people from various fields, with 19 women awardees, 16 posthumous honours, and 6 international awardees.
