"Please Give Me One Chance": Pranit More Issues Emotional Apology Over ₹370 Biryani Controversy

Stand-up comedian Pranit More has issued a fresh public apology over the viral “₹370 Biryani” controversy, admitting that he made a “big mistake” by not stopping an audience member from making derogatory remarks about women during a live crowd-work session in Gurugram.

The comedian, who has been facing widespread criticism on social media and legal scrutiny over the incident, shared an emotional video on Instagram on Saturday, acknowledging his lapse in judgment and requesting the public to give him another chance.

In the video, Pranit admitted that he got carried away by the audience’s reaction and failed to intervene when inappropriate comments were made during the show.

“This is something I wanted to say for a long time, but my Instagram was suspended. Many of you have seen the crowd-work video, and I have been receiving a lot of hate for it. I feel I deserve this hate. While interacting with that guy, he made several derogatory comments, but everyone was laughing. I got carried away, and it was a lapse in judgment,” he said.

Calling it a “big mistake,” Pranit added that he should have stopped the attendee or taken a stand at that moment instead of allowing the conversation to continue.

“I could have stopped him there. I could have taken a stand, but I didn’t. I gave him a platform, and things escalated from there. To everyone who felt hurt because of this, I sincerely apologise,” he said.

The controversy erupted after a clip from Pranit More’s Gurugram show went viral online. During the crowd-work segment, an audience member, identified as Himanshu Jangra, spoke about going on a date with a woman older than him.

He claimed that the two shared a plate of chicken biryani worth ₹370. According to the viral clip, when his date later asked him to drop her home, he responded with a remark implying that he wanted to “recover” the money he had spent on the meal.

The comment drew laughter from parts of the audience, and Pranit was seen responding, “Peak Gurugram content,” a reaction that triggered outrage online. Many social media users accused the comedian of encouraging misogynistic humour instead of challenging it.

The controversy has now taken a legal turn, with Maharashtra Cyber Police reportedly registering an FIR in connection with controversial videos from the show.

Addressing the matter in his apology video, Pranit said he is fully cooperating with authorities.

“Whatever legal proceedings are happening against me, I am cooperating with the authorities,” he stated.

Towards the end of the video, the comedian made an emotional appeal to his followers and critics, promising to learn from the incident and improve both personally and professionally.

“I only request all of you to please give me one chance. I will become a better person. This has been a learning experience for me. I am working on myself and my content, and you will see that change in my work in the future,” he said.

The apology comes amid growing debate around the responsibilities of comedians during crowd interactions and where the line should be drawn between humour and offensive content.
