Ronaldo’s Saudi club Al Nassr will be without a head coach after the departure of Stefano Pioli on Wednesday. The Italian coach had headed back home to take charge of Fiorentina.
As Ronaldo’s contract expires on Monday, the Saudi club owned by the Saudi Public Investment Fund is left with no head coach. The Portuguese player had been with the club for the past 2 and a half years. The club announced the departure of the coach through a social media post. The post read, “Pioli and his staff are no longer the acting coaching staff of the first team.”

Pioli had previously coached Fiorentina for two seasons until 2019 and went on to win the Serie A title during his five-year tenure at AC Milan. After being let go by Milan following the 2023–24 season, he joined Al Nassr, replacing Luís Castro, who was dismissed earlier in the year. Pioli was under contract until 2027, but the deal was terminated by mutual agreement following disappointing results.
Ever since Ronaldo’s arrival, the club has parted ways with three head coaches. This time, the club was aiming for its first domestic title. After finishing third in the Saudi Pro League, Al Nassr secured qualification for next season’s AFC Champions League. However, their final league position was confirmed following a series of dramatic events. The team was awarded a win in a match against an opponent that had fielded an ineligible player.
