
Argentina FA Official Expresses Satisfaction Over Kerala Preparations
Kochi, September 23, 2025: Hector Daniel Cabrera, a venue manager and representative of the Argentina Football Association (AFA), has expressed his approval of the preparations underway in Kerala for an upcoming visit by the Argentina national football team, led by icon Lionel Messi. The visit, which has sparked immense excitement across the state, is set to include a high-profile match at the Jawaharlal Nehru International Stadium in Kaloor, Kochi.
Cabrera, who serves as the AFA’s venue manager, conducted a thorough inspection of the Kaloor International Stadium, assessing the quality of the pitch, infrastructure, and associated facilities.
According to Kerala Sports Minister V Abdurahiman, Cabrera was notably impressed with the stadium’s standards, stating that the pitch and other amenities met the expectations of the world champions. “He expressed satisfaction with the quality of the pitch and other facilities,” Abdurahiman said. “Necessary arrangements will be made, and existing systems will be improved to ensure a seamless experience for the Argentina team.”
In addition to the stadium inspection, Cabrera reviewed accommodation facilities and security arrangements in Kochi, ensuring that all logistical aspects align with the requirements for hosting an international football team of Argentina’s stature. Kerala Industrial Minister P Rajeev, who also commented on the visit, highlighted Cabrera’s positive feedback following his tour. “He shared his happiness with Kerala’s preparations,” Rajeev noted, adding that Cabrera held a productive meeting with Sports Minister Abdurahiman to discuss the finer details of the event.
The anticipation surrounding Messi’s visit has electrified football fans in Kerala, a state renowned for its passionate football culture and hardcore Argentina fans. To accommodate the overwhelming demand, authorities are exploring ways to allow fans who cannot attend the match to catch a glimpse of the football legend. Rajeev revealed that plans for a potential road show featuring Messi are under consideration, with a final decision expected soon. “Efforts are being made to provide an opportunity for those unable to attend the match to see Messi,” he said.
