Amid widespread speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo’s future following a cryptic Instagram post hinting at his departure from Al Nassr, the 40-year-old footballer confirmed during a post-match press conference last night that he is not leaving and will continue with the club.

Ronaldo had recently celebrated his and the country’s international title as Portugal had defeated Spain in the UEFA Nations League. By scoring in the second half of the match, the Al Nassr player had netted his 138th international goal, giving an equaliser to Spain. Though he was substituted following the injury, the veteran watched from the sidelines as Portugal converted all their five kicks to lift the trophy.

Following the victory, Ronaldo made it clear that he will not be moving to any other clubs and had decided to stay with the Saudi Pro League. When asked directly whether he would remain in Al Nassr, he said, “Yes.”

“My future? Basically nothing is gonna change,” the veteran added.

Despite being linked with several teams to move in to be part of the World Club, which would begin on June 14 in the United States, the player last week had confirmed that he will not be part of the tournament, and the announcement had come as a blow to FIFA President Gianni Infantino’s hopes of having one of football’s biggest attractions at the tournament.

“Some things make sense to talk about, other things don’t, and, as a person says, you can’t take part in everything,” Ronaldo said while speaking in Munich a day before the UEFA final match.

He had revealed that he got offers from clubs in the US, while Al Nassr’s sporting director Fernando Hierro recently acknowledged they were in talks with Ronaldo about a contract extension. Ronaldo had joined Al Nassr in December 2022 from Manchester United. Ever since his entry to the club, the 40-year-old had scored 99 goals in 11 appearances.
