Five-time Ballon d’Or winner Cristiano Ronaldo is not new to breaking records and achieving milestones. But this time, he achieved a new milestone on his new YouTube Channel ‘UR’.
The Portuguese talisman, an inspirational figure and much-loved footballer across the globe, took only 90 minutes to hit 1 million subscribers on the YouTube channel — a feat that has never been achieved before. His subscribers grew even more after the four-hour mark as it hit an astounding 5 million mark.
The channel built by Ronaldo will focus on his “greatest passion” (soccer), according to the news announcement, as well as “his other interests, including family, wellness, nutrition, preparation, recovery, education, business,” and will also see him chat with various guests.
“I am very happy to make this project come to life,” said Ronaldo. “It has been in my mind for a long time but finally we have the opportunity to make it real. I have always enjoyed having such a strong relationship with fans on social media and my YouTube channel will give me an even bigger platform to do so and they will learn more about me, my family, and my views on many different subjects. I am also looking forward to sharing conversations with guests that will no doubt surprise people!”
The Al Nassr and Portuguese captain has shared over five videos so far, where he discusses ‘how he overcame adversities in life’, opening up about his relationship with his partner Georgina Rodriguez, and managing the pressure of being himself and his other projects.
The Euro 2016 champion also won the ‘Golden Button’ on the day he created the channel and dedicated it to his children.
