YouTube Glitch Allows User To Upload Video Showing 141-Year Duration

YouTube is facing attention after a mysterious user appeared to upload a video with a displayed duration of 141 years, raising questions about a possible technical glitch or platform exploit.

The uploader, using the username shinywr, has posted only two videos on the platform.

One video, titled “?”, shows a duration of 1,234,567 hours and 30 minutes, equivalent to approximately 141 years.

Despite containing no visible content, the video has garnered over 3.5 million views.

Upon opening the video, users report that the actual playable file is an empty video lasting roughly 12 hours, suggesting the extended duration is limited to the preview display rather than the file itself.

The second video uploaded by the same account is also unusually long, with a listed duration of 294 hours.

YouTube has not released an official statement confirming how the video was able to display such an extreme length or whether the issue was caused by a system glitch or deliberate manipulation.

According to industry data, the average YouTube video is approximately 11.7 minutes long, while users spend an average of 19 minutes per day on the platform.

While YouTube does not maintain an official record for the longest uploaded video, Guinness World Records has recognised long-form content on the platform.

In 2020, Twenty One Pilots set a record for the longest music video with a livestream lasting 177 days.

In 2025, La Casa de Alofoke 2 achieved the record for the longest continuous livestream at 918 hours and 55 minutes.
