WATCH: Dindigul Dragons' R Ashwin Lights Up TNPL 2024 With 20-Ball 45

Dindigul Dragons captain R Ashwin played a thunderous knock against Chepauk Super Gillies in the Tamil Nadu Premier League (TNPL) 2024 clash at the SNR College Cricket Ground, Coimbatore on Sunday.

Put into bat, Ashwin opened the innings for the Dragons, notching up an unbeaten knock of 45 runs off 20 deliveries. His innings was laced with three boundaries and four hits over the fence.

It guided the Dragons to a total of 64/6 in a rain-marred match of seven overs but it went in-vain as the Chepauk Super Gillies chased down the target in 5 overs.

“Captain. Opener. Top Scorer. 😎 Ash Anna scored a thunderous 45* while the 7 other batters combined for just 21. MASS! 🔥,” FanCode captioned the video.

“7 overs is lottery game. 85-90 was probably a par score I guess. Anything above 75 could have been better. Nevertheless we will keep marching on. Definitely yes (about middle-order not firing),” Ashwin said after the match.

“In T20s it happens when few batters aren’t in form. But it’s a matter of one innings. I liked the intent the boys showed with the bat but it didn’t come off. (On conditions making it difficult for spinners) Ball is getting wet and the pitch is also getting wet and skidding on. It wasn’t gripping as much in the second innings. Hopefully we will win the coming games,” the Dragons captain added.

It was the second consecutive loss for the Dragons in the TNPL 2024. They lost their last match to Salem Spartans and are currently at the sixth spot in the eight-team league.
