E-commerce giant Flipkart announced that it is all set to roll out same-day delivery of products across multiple categories. The service, which will be initially available in 20 cities in India, will start rolling out this month.
“The initiative is getting rolled out starting February 2024 and will get scaled over the next several months to serve more customers across the country,” said the company in a statement. Flipkart said that customers in cities including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Bhubaneshwar, Coimbatore, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kolkata, Ludhiana, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Patna, Raipur, Siliguri, and Vijayawada will be eligible for the same-day delivery service.
The e-commerce platform also said that customers need to place the orders before 1 p.m. to avail this service. The customer will then receive the concerned item before midnight. Flipkart said that the new initiative will help customers get orders delivered the same day, and the products eligible for this service include essentials, mobiles, fashion, books, beauty products, lifestyle, home appliances, and electronics.
Flipkart highlighted that they have invested significantly in the infrastructure and transportation that are required to scale same-day delivery across various cities. Flipkart has been delivering over 120 million packages monthly and has established several fulfillment centers across the country to reach customers even in remote areas.
“As we enter 2024, millions of customers across the country will be delighted to get lakhs of products delivered to them the same-day of them placing the orders,” said Hemant Badri, senior vice president, head of supply chain, customer experience and re-commerce business at Flipkart. Hemant Badri also added that the company will expand this service by including more cities and categories during the coming months.
