Flipkart, the popular e-commerce platform, has released the FlipTrends Report 2023. This consumer trends report shares a glimpse into the online shopping preferences of Indian consumers. Flipkart says that the detailed report is based on Flipkart’s understanding of over 500 million registered users.

As per the FlipTrends Report 2023, shoppers spent an average of 7 hours on Flipkart this year. “Shoppers Spent Time On The Platform Equivalent To Watching The Iconic Movie Sholay 2X Over!” wrote the platform on its report. Flipkart also registered over 41 million new customers up until November 2023. Meanwhile, over 4 million users engaged with ‘Flippi’, the ChatGPT-powered shopping assistant, in October at the time of its launch. Flippi, which uses generative AI, is introduced with the objective of assisting buyers who find it challenging to make a decision.

Flipkart says that Bangalore and New Delhi topped the list of metro city shoppers’ chart. Meanwhile, cities like Trivandrum, Patna, Lucknow, Ludhiana, Varanasi, Ernakulam, Guwahati, Cuttack, Medinipur, and Bankura were some of the top tier-1, 2, and 3 cities that witnessed the busiest shopping carts in 2023. In the self-care category, premium styling products saw a three-fold growth over 2022. The Flipkart report also revealed that face-care products were the most shopped under the grooming category, followed by hair care and body care. Facewash was the most popular face-care product in 2023. Flipkart also mentioned in its report that the saree was the most-shopped product in 2023 in the fashion category.

When it comes to gadgets, wireless headphones top the list. The e-commerce platform also registered a significant 3.2-fold growth in premium laptops and a 100 percent surge in tablet demand this year. Notably, action and adventure cameras became the fastest-growing segment under cameras, marking a four-fold growth in 2023 as compared to the previous year. This is mainly because of the growth in content creation and social media opportunities.
