Flipkart co-founder Binny Bansal is all set to unveil a new AI-as-a-service startup. The new startup, which is targeting global customers, will be headquartered in Singapore, with Bengaluru as the centre of operations. Bloomberg reported that Binny Bansal is aiming to deliver AI talent, products, and services to corporates, similar to outsourcing providers like Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. and Infosys Ltd.
Binny Bansal, an engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi, co-founded Flipkart in 2007. At Flipkart, he also served as Chief Operating Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Group CEO, and Chairman. Notably, Walmart bought a 77 percent stake in Flipkart for $16 billion in 2018. It is regarded as the world”s biggest deal for an internet firm. In July 2023, Binny Bansal sold his remaining stake in Flipkart to Walmart. This officially ended Binny Bansal’s holding in Flipkart. Following this, Bansal has been actively investing in different tech startups.
According to a Bloomberg report, Binny Bansal”s new initiative is expected to launch products and services and start marketing in the second half of 2024. The team has already hired 15 people, and the majority of them are artificial intelligence scientists. The AI-as-a-service startup, which is currently operating in stealth mode, is also planning to expand to the US. As tech giants around the globe are seeking to utilize the potential of AI technologies, there is also a significant rise in the demand for AI specialists globally. Binny Bansal is mainly focusing on India”s English-speaking young population and is planning to train experts from smaller cities in India to meet the growing demand for AI services.
