UAE To Launch World First AI City Aion Sentia By 2027 (image-pixabay)
As the UAE takes steps to integrate AI across all sectors, Abu Dhabi has recently announced the launch of its first AI-driven cognitive city by 2027. Through advanced artificial intelligence and cognitive technology, the city, known as Aion Sentia, is part of the emirate’s strategy to integrate AI across all sectors.
“This city will not just be smart; it will be cognitive — learning and evolving with its residents,” said Daniele Marinelli, CEO of My Aion Inc., the Italian developer of the project. In the city, AI would leverage data to offer predictive services, automated infrastructure management, and real-time energy optimisation, reports Khaleej Times.

MAIA, a mobile AI-driven application, will be introduced, enabling residents to connect with city services. From automated public transport scheduling to smart home integration and AI-powered healthcare support, MAIA aims to bring a seamless, tech-driven lifestyle to the fingertips of every citizen.
The project, which is structured under a $2.5 billion Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) model, follows a strategic partnership between Abu Dhabi’s Bold Technologies, a subsidiary of Bold Holding, and the Italian manufacturer My Aion Inc.
The MAIA app is said to be more than a generative AI, with its capability of real-time decision-making based on the user’s data. Unlike other applications, MAIA’s Personal Profile Graph will learn users’ interactions, understand preferences, habits, and even personal relationships.
Moreover, the partnership also includes plans to collaborate with UAE universities to launch training and upskilling programmes, aiming to develop a national workforce in AI and digital technologies.

The project, which is set for launch within 18 months, plans for global expansion. The peculiarity of the project is that, unlike other smart city applications, Aion Sentia aims to build an urban living experience. What was once only imagined in the film Her is no longer just a cinematic vision — it’s on the verge of becoming a reality for people in the UAE.
