Know About UAE's Golden Visa Programme And Latest Blue Visa Programme
In a bid to attract global tourists to the city of skyscrapers, the UAE has decided to expand its five Golden Visa programmes, with which professionals in prime sectors can enjoy long-term residency. The broadened programme now includes professionals like nurses, teachers, digital creators, e-sports experts, and luxury yacht owners.
The Golden Visa, introduced in 2019, is a 10-year residency programme that offers stability without requiring employer sponsorship, allowing family sponsorship for most categories. The expansion announced in May aims to boost the UAE’s economic development and strengthen its position as a global hub for innovation and knowledge-based industries.

The Golden Visa expansion aligns with the UAE’s Vision 2030, aiming to diversify from oil by attracting 100,000 skilled professionals by 2030, as per WAM.
The UAE authorities had also introduced a new visa category, known as the Blue Visa, designed to attract distinguished individuals who have made significant contributions in the fields of environmental protection, sustainability, and clean energy. The Blue Visa, which was initially announced in 2024, came into effect this year. The Blue Visa offers expats and visitors a multiple-entry visa with a validity period of 180 days from the date of entry and the possibility of a 10-year residency permit.
The UAE’s Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs and Port Security (ICP) manages the Blue Visa programme, which mainly aims at scientists, researchers, investors, entrepreneurs, and specialists working within environmental and sustainability sectors.
